Community development in the 21st century
In 2011 the Apostolic Society will delve into community development in the 21st century. Both in society around us and in the Apostolic communities: How do we stay connectedwith each other in a society that becomes more and more individualized? How do we discover inspiring connections with everyone once again? How do we rediscover that diversity is meant to be a blessing? It is all about searching for a healthy balance between the individual and the group and between the group and its surroundings: me, you, we, they.
'W!J stands for the new we: the world as a community, which does not want to exclude other people ("they"), but quite on the contrary wants to include everyone.
Inextricably connected with each otherPeople are inextricably connected with each other. You are human because you are a human being. We cannot live without each other. But this is not easy. Diversity often seems to lead to estrangement and permanent conflicts. Together we make long-lasting relationships: with partners, with family, within theapostolic community, within society around us. How do we keep our communities stable and sustainable?
Living with vision and faithThis requires a vision about our being human2 and a practical wisdom. Apostolics believe in the deeply felt unity of all people together, together with the whole earth and the universe. Built on this faith we shape our congregations, calling each other brother and sister. A first step towards a humane world, where we serve and honour each other.
For Apostolic people the meeting place is a home. Here we reflect on life's questions, and we find opportunities for self-development and as we share also each other's sentiments on all circumstances of life.
Subtheme's for the Year theme 2011
The Apostolic Society is a contemporary religious community. We feel connected to the eternal mystery of creation, which we call God or Almighty.
In our Sunday services we reflect on values as sense of forgiving in the day tot day practice.
