People have a diversity of ideas about God. The internet is full of them and while surfing the net you may be trying to find a clear definition of how we Apostolic people perceive God. It is difficult to know how to put such delicate feelings into words. The Apostolic vision is that God is a creative power. The wonder of the Universe, the Earth and all that grows and blooms, and its untamed forces, the birth of a child and the many talents we humans have been given, are all forms of this creative power. We look for God, the universal creative power that expresses itself in a multitude of ways, first and foremost in human beings. Sometimes in spite of the misunderstanding and fear that often separate us.
The Apostolic Society is based on the fundamental belief that all human beings and the whole of Creation originate from an eternal mystery. With this insight we try to treat our planet and our fellow man, both close to home and far away, with care. With this in mind we are looking for answers to countless current and ethical questions. How do we manage our own life? What sort of freedom does mankind have? To whom does the earth belong? Our perception of God does not give us concrete answers but it does make us realize our own responsibility. Moreover our Society does not claim to possess the absolute truth. We are attached to our own precious religious culture but do not see it as the only one possible.
Sometimes you are touched by the profundity of words or sounds, of images or memories. Sometimes you are able to see your life clearly in relation to time and you are moved. When you undergo these experiences with an open mind it can sometimes give rise to a feeling of speechless amazement.
That moment of awe can wake a sense of unity in people in which they feel at one with everything surrounding them. Such a realization is expressed in a poem by the author Abel. J. Herzberg, in whose work the destiny of twentieth century Jews has a prominent place. In his short story ´Three red roses` a Jewish tailor who lost his children and almost all of his family in the war, writes letters to the biblical Job. In the last one he remembers part of a poem he once wrote in his younger years.
The Apostolic Society is a contemporary religious community. We feel connected to the eternal mystery of creation, which we call God or Almighty.
In our Sunday services we reflect on values as sense of forgiving in the day tot day practice.
