To pray is a very personal matter. During prayer you concentrate on the connection you feel with the creative Power from which your life came. Often without words and in your most intimate thoughts you speak to God, your origin, or for those who find these words too profound, to who you are, deep down inside.
You can pray everywhere. Often you feel the need to pray at the crossroads of in your life, in situations of great need or of intense gratitude and everybody does this in his or her own way.
In every Sunday service a prayer will be said twice by the pastor: before the communion and at the end of the service.
Prayer is a personal matter; every pastor will say the prayer before communion in a different way. Therefore it is an intimate moment as the community witnesses how the pastor expresses his or her feelings. During this communal prayer those present in the community will be led by the words of the pastor and concentrate on their own thoughts. The prayer connects us to the Universe and shows respect for the complete creation of which we ourselves are a part. In the second place we confirm our connection with the Apostolic culture, which inspires us. And in the third place we reconfirm our personal bond with the Apostle, inspirator for many Apostolic people.
The prayer creates feelings of reconciliation, forgiveness, help with coming to terms with a situation, wonder, courage to live and trust. Often these are the only ways towards liberation of feelings of hate, guilt, sadness, disappointment or inferiority: all of which are obstacles to our own creative capacity.
The second prayer is said at the end of the Sunday service. This is a prayer of gratitude for the whole service. The prayer is finished with an intention to continue daily life with renewed inspiration.
The Apostolic Society is a contemporary religious community. We feel connected to the eternal mystery of creation, which we call God or Almighty.
In our Sunday services we reflect on values as sense of forgiving in the day tot day practice.
