Everyone is born, grows older and has relationships. Most people choose a partner with the intention to share one´s life with him or her.A marriage is a deeply felt, personal commitment. At least that is what Apostolic people consider it to be. Both parties must be willing to make a creative effort in their relationship. By doing so a relationship can be a starting point for love and respect for one another and for one´s fellow man.
In the Sunday service special attention can be given to lasting relationships. In the case of marriagewe call this ritual " the Confirmation of Marriage" but, a registered partnership or any durable partnership agreement can also be confirmed within the community. This confirmation can also be applied to partners of the same gender and for partners where only one is Apostolic.
The actual ritual is simple. The pastor asks both partners to give each other their right hand, as a symbol of the mutual love which was the basis for exchanging marriage vows. The pastor then encloses both hands with his own, joining the marriage symbolically with the universal creative power, the Apostolic culture and the Apostle. This gives a religious quality to the marriage. The couple are then given a bible as a wedding present, with a personal dedication as a guideline for their lives.
The Apostolic Society is a contemporary religious community. We feel connected to the eternal mystery of creation, which we call God or Almighty.
In our Sunday services we reflect on values as sense of forgiving in the day tot day practice.
