The birth of a new life is a great miracle. Parents want to express their joy and wonder about the birth of their child, emerging from seemingly nothing: an unfathomable process of creation. In The Apostolic Society each child is welcomed into the world, into society and into the Apostolic community. This takes place by way of an ancient ritual: baptism. Water is used as a symbol of the pure connection between the life of the child and the universal process of Creation of which it is a part.
The ritual, baptism, takes place in a regular Sunday service. The parents express their joy and thankfulness and tell why they wish to have their child baptised. They promise to educate their child in such a way that it can grow into a valuable human being, who lives in harmony with himself (herself) and his (her) environment. Then the pastor asks the members of the community if they will receive the child in their midst. After which the pastor then touches the forehead of the child with one or two drops of water: the symbolic place of creative capacity.
The Apostolic Society is a contemporary religious community. We feel connected to the eternal mystery of creation, which we call God or Almighty.
In our Sunday services we reflect on values as sense of forgiving in the day tot day practice.
