The main activity within The Apostolic Society is the weekly service: every Sunday morning at half past nine. It is also an occasion to meet one another. The service is led by a pastor, supported by one or more assistants from the pastoral care group. For the content of the service they principally use the Weekly Letter (see Weekly Letter): a reflection, especially written for the Sunday service. The pastor speaks from his own experiences in life and understanding of the theme of the Weekly Letter. The pastor is also guided by what is going on in the community and in society. The pastoral carers prepare for the service together, but there is plenty of room for improvisation.
The spoken word will alternate with singing and music and moments of silence. The authenticity of the speaker, is that which fascinates and inspires an interaction between the speaker and active listeners. Whilst listening, everyone's religious feeling can be appealed to, emotions dealt with so that a new understanding and intentions can develop. Thus a safe and sacred place arises, a moment free from everyday matters: an atmosphere in which everybody can feel at home, independent of age, education, inclination and birth.
The Apostolic Society is a contemporary religious community. We feel connected to the eternal mystery of creation, which we call God or Almighty.
In our Sunday services we reflect on values as sense of forgiving in the day tot day practice.
